whenever I hear Gotye’s “Somebody I Used To Know” being played in Germany, I have an uncontrollable urge to dance and sing along loudly with friends of mine.

I grew up listening to the Midnight Oils, more specifically the Diesel & Dust album as well as Blue Sky Mining album, and this song has basically shaped my thinking about the fact that this land belongs to the Aborigines.
Alexisonfire did a very good cover of the song. I was fairly doubtful of the actual covering (because in my mind nothing beats the Oils’ version, biased I know) but when I actually heard it through youtube, I was taken surprised.
We don’t need protection
don’t need your hand
Keep your promise on where we stand
We will listen we’ll understand
We carry in our hearts the true country
And that cannot be stolen
We follow in the steps of our ancestry
And that cannot be broken
I had my iPod on shuffle this morning, and whilst I was walking from the train station to work, drinking coffee, three lines from three songs just stood out from the rest of the songs that were played. So, naturally, they became the soundtrack to my morning.
If you can guess what the songs the first two “lines” are, (icecream is going to save us again, and i blew my brain through my nose) hats off!
Third one is dead obvious so I’m naming it - Rebel Rebel by David Bowie.
